What are the major issues Tom and Mason Miller are facing? Looking at the workflow of Custom Molds raises several questions. First, customers’ complaints about delivery delays have increased. The voice of the customer always signals a problem. Tom and Mason Miller now have to identify where that problem lies and how it can be solved. Following the 6 step analysis presented by the authors of Operation Management Strategy and Operations [Krajewski J. The competitive advantage of this company was therefore the ability to produce highly accurate molds as well as quickly delivered parts. One of their competitive advantages was the linkage between the two processes. While another company might have had to rely on suppliers for the molds, Custom Molds produced both in house. Having a well managed inventory of molds allowed the company to supply additional parts to former custome rs very quickly. It also ensured customer loyalty. The company thus, differentiated itself from the competition by being flexible enough to match market changes, reliable in meeting schedules and fast in order delivery. Recent changes in the industry challenged the company’s competitive advantage. With orders for parts booming, the company cannot afford bottlenecks in this process. The total number of parts produced in 1988 compared to the total number of parts produced in 1990 reveals an increase of more than 200% (Table 1). Orders for 1000 to 5000 units have increased 6 to 8 fold which brings the company close to mass production. Clearly, focusing on parts production will become more profitable for the company. Domestic violence is the act of being angry and taking the wrong actions about the anger. â€Å"Violence and neglect are a part of many families’ everyday lives† which should not be considered a normal thing. Physical neglect is just one portion of domestic violence. â€Å"Failure to provide food, medical care, or shelter† is described as physical neglect. â€Å"Abuse can be a whole range of physical behavior—slapping, hitting, beating, or using weapons to hurt someone. Abuse includes verbal and emotional abuse, where someone is constantly insulted [and beaten down] to feel sad and worthless.† This can also cause one to have mental issues, like depression. Is it worth it to hurt an innocent child of yours, or even someone else’s child? Domestic abuse†¦show more content†¦The abuse is a power play designed to show you ‘who is boss.’ After abusing you, your partner feels guilt, but not over what he’s done. Heâ⠂¬â„¢s more worried about the possibility of being caught and facing consequences for his abusive behavior.† The vicious cycle continues as the abuser thinks about what he has done. They will avoid blaming themselves, and continue to torture their victim by telling them it’s their entire fault. The predator will feed the victim many worthless excuses. The next step is normal behavior. â€Å"The abuser does everything he can to regain control and keep the victim in the relationship. He may act as if nothing has happened, or he may turn on the charm. This peaceful honeymoon phase may give the victim hope that the abuser has really changed this time† when they really have not. Oddly enough, â€Å"the abuser begins to fantasize about abusing [the victim] again† which explains the fantasy and planning stage. Again, the abuser does not blame themselves, but instead finds ways that the other person is at fault. He will plan out how to make their prey pay and f ollow through with their plan of abuse that is called â€Å"the set-up.† The abuser then puts the target in a situation that will â€Å"justify abusing [the victim].† An â€Å"abuser’s apologies and loving gestures in between the episodes of abuse can make it difficult to leave.
